“Momentum” is a film that takes an artistic approach to various forms of time perception and critically examines our current perception of time. Each of the sequences takes up anew the fundamental mechanisms of our perception of time, according to which moments can be experienced on the one hand as intense and slowly passing, but on the other hand can also be experienced as quickly passing. In a kind of poetry of slowness, the film deliberately sets a counterpoint to today’s fast pace and can therefore be understood as a subtle criticism of the altered perception of time in today’s turbulent society. With its appeal for more deceleration and for a return to a more conscious approach to time, for more courage to slow down, it is also a call to recapture time in all its fullness before it slips away from us more and more.
